My Process
As a therapist, I offer a calm and confidential space, both with online and in-person appointments in Kenmare, County Kerry. In therapy, you can explore thoughts and feelings relating to current problems and symptoms, whilst making links with past or earlier experiences and having opportunities to share and process experiences. You will learn techniques to manage symptoms of low mood and depression or anxiety presentations, including worry, social anxiety, health anxiety, panic, OCD, PTSD and trauma, both single incidents, multiple trauma memories and childhood trauma, managing perfectionism, Low self-esteem and improving self-worth.
My focus is collaboratively working with clients and using evidence-based interventions, helping to develop skills and techniques to manage symptoms, build resilience and coping skills, develop self-regulation, reprocess and support clients to move forward with more strength and confidence.
I have experience working on an individual therapy basis and also experience working with mental health workshops and running groups for clients with symptoms of social anxiety and mental health difficulties in older adults. The focus has been on teaching techniques in a group setting, to help overcome anxiety in social situations and manage low mood and rebuild self-confidence, improve self-esteem, and this has also been helpful to build social connections, normalise symptoms and reduce stigma around mental health difficulties.
During the past 3 years, I have worked with an online therapy business and, more recently, worked as a self-employed therapist and developed a private practice.

Depression
Living with depression can affect every part of a person's life, from relationships and work to sleep, motivation, and physical health. Feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or emotional numbness often develop gradually, making it difficult to recognise when support is needed.
Through evidence-based therapy for depression, Siobhan works collaboratively with each client to understand the patterns of thinking and behaviour that may be maintaining their difficulties. Therapy is tailored to individual needs, helping clients develop practical coping strategies, build resilience, and regain confidence in everyday life. For people living with persistent symptoms or exploring major depressive disorder treatments, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy offers structured, effective techniques that focus on creating meaningful and lasting change at a pace that feels manageable.

Anxiety Conditions
Anxiety affects everyone differently and can develop gradually or appear suddenly during difficult periods in life. Some people experience constant worry, while others struggle with social anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, perfectionism, or ongoing stress that begins to interfere with work, relationships, or everyday activities. Anxiety can also be closely linked with PTSD, making it difficult to feel safe or in control after a traumatic experience.
As an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and trained EMDR therapist, Siobhan provides evidence-based anxiety therapy that helps clients understand the patterns keeping anxiety going while building practical coping strategies that support long-term emotional wellbeing. Every therapy plan is tailored to the individual, creating a safe, supportive space where lasting progress can be made at a comfortable pace.

PTSD
Trauma can have a lasting impact on emotional well-being, even many years after the original event. Some people experience difficulties following a single incident trauma, while others may be living with the effects of complex trauma or unresolved childhood trauma that continues to influence their thoughts, emotions, and relationships. Symptoms can include flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, emotional numbness, avoidance, or feeling constantly on alert.
As a trained EMDR therapist alongside her Cognitive Behavioural Therapy practice, Siobhan offers evidence-based treatment that helps clients safely process traumatic experiences at a pace that feels manageable. Therapy is always personalised, providing a compassionate and supportive environment where healing can take place without judgement.

Low Self-Esteem
Low self-esteem can be described as a persistent negative opinion of oneself, affecting thoughts, feelings, behaviours, and relationships. People with low self-esteem may doubt their abilities, feel undeserving of love or success, and harshly judge themselves in everyday situations, even when outwardly functioning well. Low self-esteem can often develop from early life experiences, such as criticism, rejection, trauma, or unmet expectations, and can be reinforced by later life events.
It is also common for low self-esteem to exist alongside mixed anxiety and depression, creating a cycle that feels difficult to break without support. Through Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Siobhan helps clients recognise these unhelpful patterns, challenge negative thinking, and develop healthier ways of viewing themselves.
During therapy, it may be helpful to process earlier memories with CBT or EMDR techniques, to reduce the distress associated with past experiences.
Therapy can also be helpful for people who experience low confidence, where there may be a feeling of uncertainty about their skills, decisions, or ability to handle situations effectively, often leading to self-doubts and avoidance of challenges. CBT can help to explore the underlying causes and develop new coping strategies.
Therapy focuses on building genuine self-confidence, emotional resilience, and a stronger sense of self-worth that supports lasting personal growth.

Insomnia
Poor sleep can have a significant effect on both physical and emotional health, making it harder to cope with everyday challenges. Many people experiencing anxiety, stress, or other forms of mental illness find themselves lying awake with racing thoughts or waking frequently throughout the night.
Cognitive behaviour therapy is recognised as one of the most effective approaches for insomnia treatment, helping people understand the habits and thought patterns that contribute to ongoing sleep difficulties. By introducing practical techniques and healthier routines, therapy can improve sleep quality while also supporting better emotional well-being and overall quality of life.

Grief and Loss
Grief is a deeply personal experience, and there is no right or wrong way to process the loss of someone or something important. Therapy offers a safe, compassionate space where clients can explore difficult emotions, adjust to significant life changes, and move forward at their own pace without feeling pressured. Support is available for many forms of grief and loss, including:
-
Bereavement
-
Traumatic grief
-
Complex grief
-
Complicated grief
Each person's experience is unique, and therapy is tailored to their individual circumstances, helping them develop healthy coping strategies while honouring the significance of their loss.

Stress
Stress is a natural response to life's demands, but when it becomes ongoing, it can begin to affect both physical and emotional well-being. Work pressures, family responsibilities, relationship difficulties, financial concerns, or significant life changes can all contribute to feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unable to switch off. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helps clients understand the thoughts and behaviours that may be increasing stress, while developing practical coping strategies to regain balance and improve resilience. Therapy provides a supportive space to manage stress more effectively, helping clients feel calmer, more in control, and better equipped to cope with everyday challenges.
